The name "GMO" is often understood as an acronym for "Garlic, Mushroom, Onion," reflecting its unique savory aroma. An alternative account suggests the name was coined by Skunkmasterflex in 2013 after he encountered news about genetically modified ingredients in actual Girl Scout Cookies.
GMO is a cross between the legendary Chemdawg and Girl Scout Cookies (GSC). From Chemdawg, it inherited pungent diesel and chemical notes. GSC contributed to its dense bud structure and abundant resin production. This combination resulted in a truly unique aroma, setting it apart from the sweet strains prevalent at the time.
With its bold and unconventional aroma, GMO quickly gained favor among those seeking a savory, earthy, and pungent profile.
